HALF-CREDIT HIGH SCHOOL COURSE
Ethnic Studies explores the history, culture, and experiences of different ethnic and racial groups. The course looks at the lives of Indigenous peoples, African Americans, Latin Americans, and Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States. By studying the experiences of people in these groups, you will develop a deeper understanding of their contributions, struggles, and achievements.
In this course, you will explore the effects of historical as well as current laws and policies. Many laws and policies have focused on specific ethnic or racial groups in the United States. You will learn about the ways in which these groups have shaped and contributed to society. You will also explore the obstacles groups have faced while working to gain citizenship and equality. And through discussion, research, and projects, you will learn how the impacts of race, ethnicity, and identity lead people to have very different lives.
